GW2 Snowblind Fractal Guide

Objectives for Snowblind Fractal

1. Seek warmth or perish in the blizzard – Reach the bonfire at the bottom of the wall
2. Find a way past the obstruction – Ice Wall
3. Defeat the ice elemental causing the blizzard
4. Follow the tracks and look for survivors
5. Kill the son of Svanir Shaman
 

1. Seek warmth or perish in the blizzard

Reach the bonfire at the bottom of the wall
To start off with you will want to gather near the big bonfire right at the start of the Fractal. Staying near this fire will grant you a boon called “Warmth”, which you can stack up to 20. If you do not have this boon when you jump down into the next area you will get the “Frostbite” condition which will deal you continuous damage over time. Make sure to grab a torch if you don’t already have one (you will need it for the next part).

2. Find a way past the obstruction

Ice Wall

Head towards the bonfire at the bottom of the well. You will need to keep this fire lit while dealing with incoming waves of enemies (hence the need for a torch). Keep the fire lit in order to keep the “Warmth” boon and in order to melt the ice wall that blocks the next passage. It’s best to have one member focus on keeping the fire going while the rest work on killing enemies as fast as possible.
 
Note: You will have to defeat more enemies here on higher levels of the Fractal.

3. Defeat the ice elemental causing the blizzard

After the ice wall is melted you can continue on. Your next objective is to seek out the Ice Elemental that is causing the blizzard. When you encounter it you will want to make sure to avoid the AOE lightning clouds he spawns while staying near the fires in order to keep the “Warmth” boon. Eventually the Elemental will summon a blizzard that will put out the fires. You will need to use torches to light the fires again while continuing to burn down its health. Keep up this pattern until the Elemental is defeated.
 
Note: You will have to defeat more enemies here on higher levels of the Fractal.

4. Follow the tracks and look for survivors

After the Ice Elemental falls you will need to follow the tracks on the ground in order to look for survivors. There are mobs in this area but it is not necessary to fight them. Keep following the tracks until you reach the room with the Son of Svanir Shaman.

5. Kill the son of Svanir Shaman

When you begin battle he will start by channeling damage abilities on whomever he is focused on, will occasionally fill the room with ice crystals, and from time to time will trap a party member in an ice shard. The damage abilities can be dodged and the ice crystals have low hp and are easily destroyed. The ability to watch out for is when he traps a party member in an ice shard. When this happens target the ice shard and destroy it as quickly as possible in order to release the trapped party member.
 
After doing some damage the boss will enter his second phase in which he leaps to a higher platform and begins dropping chunks of ice on the party members. Red circles will appear on the ground where these ice chunks will fall, make sure to stay out of circles as they appear. After a while he will return to the lower level and resume his earlier attacks.
 
These two phases will repeat until the boss is dead.
