Unlike many others MMORPGs, you will be able to collect gatherables in Guild Wars 2 as soon as you start your journey. GW2 gathering skills are not specific to your profession. You can gather whatever you like if you have appropriate tools. Beside getting materials, you will also get a small amount of exp for every collected item. Be advised that you can fail at gathering if your tools are low level. You can’t steal mining nodes or trees from anyone since they all have separate spawns for each person.

Rich Gold Vein in Dredgehaunt Cliffs in the north west most part of the map. Right behind Leopard’s Snarl Shrine.

There is one in Blazeridge Steppes on the upper left part of the map somewhere can’t remember exactly where, but it’s the best place to get gold from what I have seen.

I am also finding them in starter sylvari area (from herb bushes). I have noticed in last few days seemingly more drops – I wonder if AN increased the drop-rate as they used to be very uncommon?

Straits of Devastation near Plinth Timberland area. Have never found it anywhere else. Suggest you start your own garden in your home instance.
Do you know where to find a Glob of Ectoplasm, or ingredient from which then you call him didn’t have to buy.
Ectoplasm comes from salvaging Exotic gear
probably is a good idea to add material like fang or scale dropped by monster
