GW2 Super Adventure Box Returns September 3rd

ArenaNet just announced that the Super Adventure Box will return to Tyria next week, on September 3rd, with new patch Back to School.
 
Super Adventure Box originated as an April Fools’ Day joke earlier this year, but quickly became a fan favorite with its pixelated 3D graphics, retro music and nostalgic gameplay that stirred memories of video games from yesteryear. Designed in-game by Moto, a crafty asura, to be a virtual reality simulator to educate the younger generation, Super Adventure Box will take players back to school with new and more difficult challenges.
 
Players can get an early look at the update by joining a livestream with ArenaNet developers on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at noon (PDT) on the Guild Wars 2 Twitch channel.

During IGN’s Up at Noon interview with Mike “Z” Zadorojny, ArenaNet’s quality assurance manager, a great question popped up –

Q: Is it possible we’ll see GW2 come to the Play Station 4? Unfortunately, the answer was the same as a year ago,

ArenaNet is PC centric company, but we always keep our options open. Two weeks updates / patches is impossible to do on Console.
 

 
Interview Summary

  • The team worked on Guild Wars 2 about 4-5 years before the launch
  • The same number of people is still working on the project as it was on the launch
  • Team is working on the LFG tool, and they are getting close to the point where they can finally release it.
  • During the PAX visitors can sneak-peak at some cool things of September content.
  • Fan event Anniversary Bash on Saturday, August 31st in the Madison Ballroom in downtown Seattle’s Renaissance Hotel

GW2 GamesCom 2013 Community Questions

GamesCom, one of the biggest gaming expo, is just a few short days away and we are packing our bags and heading over to Cologne. Lucky for us, GW2 game designers will be there and we will have a great opportunity to interview
 

  • Daniel Dociu (the Chief Art Director for NCsoft North America and Studio Art Director for ArenaNet),
  • Isaiah Cartwright (Game Designer) and
  • Matt Wuerffel (the head of the End Game Systems team)

 
As some of you may know, we have a tradition where we ask the game developers questions that you, the community, have for them. We did this for every convention we attended so far and for various games. Things will not be different with GW2. Feel free to leave your questions for GW2 developers in the comments bellow or on Twitter or Reddit and we will pick the best ones and take them to GamesCom to present them to the devs.

GW2 Queen’s Speech page has been vandalized

Anonymous organization headed by Scarlet has vandalized GW2 official Queen’s Speech page.
 
The only clue that has been left is a poem which warns the people of Divinity’s Reach that the Queen’s Speech event scheduled for August 20th, will not pass so smoothly:
 
Tick tock goes the clock
It’s almost time for time to stop
Something you all must understand
Your world is built on fog and sand
 
You’re out of time, your jig is done
It’s time for Scarlet to have her fun
She has some hard lessons to teach
To the people of Divinity’s Reach
 
So mark the date in permanent ink
The hour is later than you think
On the twentieth day she’ll start her games
And warm her hands over Kryta’s flames!

Today ArenaNet announced release date of a brand new content Queen’s Speech – August 20, 2013. The celebration of Queen Jennah’s rule continues in Divinity’s Reach! All over Kryta, people are talking about The Queen’s Speech, which is rumored to contain a major surprise. What will the Queen reveal to her people and the world? Find out on August 20!

GW2 Introduces Personal Portals

GW2 Queen’s Jubilee event is promising to offer great rewards like new skins, Sovereign Weapon Set, new rune and sigil recipes, but the one that caught my eye is Watchwork Portal Device.
 

You might even find the recipe to assemble a Watchwork Portal Device, allowing you to create a personal portal!

 
According to Anthony Ordon, ArenaNet’s Game Designer, the portal is a one-time use consumable that effectively allows you to use a skill that is similar to the mesmer’s portal. The recipe is quite rare and takes considerable resources to manufacture.

GW2 Queen’s Jubilee available from August 6th

A celebration of ten years of Queen Jennah’s rule is about to kick off in Divinity’s Reach! The queen has commissioned a new gladiatorial arena for the occasion—the Crown Pavilion—as a shining symbol of her people’s endurance.
 
Take a hot air balloon ride with dignitaries from across Tyria to the capital of the Krytan nation, and be there for the opening ceremony. Join in the festivities and compete in ceremonial combat in Her Majesty’s honor!

GW2 Aspect Arena Guide

Once you speak to Ellen Kiel and start Aspect Arena event, jump down and run through Aspect gates to select a Sun, Wind or Lighting skill set. Each Aspect grants you different skills to maneuver and fight. Your aim is to collect Crystals and return them to charge your conduits. Each round lasts 5 minutes, once time’s up, the team with the highest score wins.

Aspect Arena Tips

  • After collecting a Crystal, don’t forget to use new skills to increase movement speed.
  • Arena is full of secret passages, which can be used for running away or getting the Crystals faster.
  • Move carefully, there are many opportunities to get knocked off the area and die.
  • You can reequip your skills at your base during the game
