Refer a Friend GW2 Free Trial

ArenaNet decided to start a free game trial program from November 15-18 for all your friends who want to experience Guild Wars 2 and Lost Shores.

We want you to experience Guild Wars 2 and Lost Shores with your friends, so on Monday November 12, we will turn on Refer a Friend Free Trial. You will be able to invite up to 3 Friends to play Guild Wars 2 with you for free from November 15-18.

To do so, you need a Guild Wars 2 account in good standing that was created before 23:59 PST (7:59 GMT) on November 6.

We will give you more details once the program goes live, but start thinking about who you want to invite!

GW2 November Content Details

MMORPG hosted a live stream chat with ArenaNet’s Game Designer Colin Johanson about November and future updates. If you don’t have enough time to listen to the whole interview, here’s a short version written by Rytlock:

PvE

  1. Wintersday confirmed for December.
  2. November weekend one time event that will change the world and introduce the new island map.
  3. On the new map… a new dungeon! Really big, gets harder to farther you get in
  4. The new island is not a full-sized map, it’s a medium small map that will play out a storyline. Not intended for big end-game expansion. Island is meant for more fun content. The Dungeon is meant to be added to expand end-game.
  5. New rewards not seen before will be available on island.
  6. They will be adding lots of things to do (they want a good variety) at max level so you can log in and say “Oh I feel like doing X, Y, and Z today)
  7. Dungeon rewards are being actively worked on right now, and are also trying to make dungeons more fun to play.

Developer Corner: Clarification on Halloween skins

Basically there are two types of weapons for Halloween event:

Craftable – There are a number of weapons that can be crafted from materials that come from Halloween content. They are exotic and they have their own stats. You can craft these at any time of the year, but there are certain components that will only drop during Halloween. Since these weapons are really cool, we allow you to rent them from an in-game vendor in Lion’s Arch. They’re pretty cheap (you can buy them without paying gold) and yes, they expire in four hours. Basically, everyone will have a chance to get in the spirit of the season. To that effect, these weapons have auto-scaling stats but you can’t transmute them. For those of you who want to stay “festive” all year round, you’ll have to delve in the content and put the weapons together.

Purchasable Skins – These are available in the Black Lion Chests. They are a one-time use skin that you can apply to anything, I believe, and from there transmute that appearance to something else if you need to. You cannot rent these from that vendor in Lion’s Arch.

There’s also a bunch more gear, goodies, and crafting recipes to be discovered in the content itself!

The craftable skins and the Black Lion Chest skins are completely different from one another

You don’t necessarily need weaponsmith maxed, but the permanent craftable weapons are level 80. And they are sellable.
