GW2 Laurel Items

The latest Flame and Frost update introduces new Laurel items. The Laurel Merchant is located in Lion’s Arch, near WvW gates, but can be also found in the main cities.
You’ll earn the laurels as a reward for daily and monthly achievements! Redeem these laurels for rewards like the new Ascended gear and Infusions!

One of the first new reward systems we’re adding is based on a new currency: the laurel.

In addition to the normal rewards, players can earn one laurel for completing their daily achievement category and ten laurels for completing their monthly achievement category. Laurel merchants have been added to all of the major cities of Tyria, and they have a wide range of rewards to choose from. Some of the highlights:

  • Utility Infusions—a new category of infusion that provides powerful boosts to noncombat statistics, like gold find and experience gain.
  • Ascended Amulets—offensive, defensive, and utility variants of the next slot of ascended gear.
  • Ascended Rings—non-agony versions of the ascended rings from the Fractals of the Mists.
  • Crafting Starter Kits—one-time account purchases that contain everything you’ll need to get your feet wet in each of the eight crafting disciplines.
  • WvW Blueprints—everything you need to rain fire on your enemies in the Mists.
  • Support Items—new boosters, advanced harvesting tools, and crafting trophy bags.
  • Unique Minis—Goedulf, the mythical wolf-cub spirit that protects lost norn kids, and (my personal favorite) the runner-up in the Divinity’s Reach Fanciest Cat competition: Chauncey von Snuffles III.

GW2 Charitable Charr Tixx’s Infinirarium Wintersday guide

Charitable Charr – Tixx’s Infinirarium is the third Wintersday event that takes place in Black Citadel. Climb aboard to see what kind of toy Tixx and his Funwerks Krewe have crafted for the charr. The entrance to the instance can be found near Perimeter Loop. The recommended players number is five. This is a combination of previous two events.

Important Notes for Charitable Charr Tixx’s Infinirarium Event:

  1. Don’t forget to loot the chest at the middle of the instance.
  2. You can find a door at the south part of the map if you want to exit the instance, and the exit icon above the mini-map hasn’t showed.
  3. You can complete two achievements during this event:
    – Charitable Charr (after completing the event)
    – Smash the Town (if you haven’t finished it in the previous events). Just smash everything that you can, even trees. Use the AoE skills if you have. You can get this achievement during or after you finish the instance).

Waiting for GW2 Wintersday event

The hours may seem very long if you are waiting for the Wintersday patch. According to Anthony Ordon, ArenaNet’s Game Designer – there is no specific time when the Wintersday event will start:

The patch will go live sometime today, but I can’t provide a specific time. I apologize for the inconvenience.
Anthony Ordon

The game update will arrive at sometime today, Pacific Time (which is the time zone in which our development studio is based). We do not have a specific time at which it will go live.
The first event which will occur at a specific time will happen tomorrow, December 15, per the schedule on the website.
Regina Buenaobra

What we know about Wintersday event so far:

  • Any rewards tied to a specific day will be attainable when those days are available for replay at the end. Anthony Ordon
  • You can be any level to participate in any of the main stage Wintersday content. And yes, there are both level-appropriate and level independent rewards.
  • You have two weeks to claim the final reward. – Anthony Ordon
  • You will have until January 3rd to enjoy the content. Regina Buenaobra
  • I would not expect difficult combat challenges in holiday updates. The reception of including such content with the Halloween update was very poor. Anthony Ordon
  • The transition of the airship departing and arriving is at 10 AM PST each day , but all of the actual content is available at-will, all day long. Antony Ordon

Wintersday is comming to Guild Wars 2

You just can’t have a great Tyrian holiday without the ancient Wintersday event. This holiday is scheduled for December 14th and will continue until January 3rd.

The official announcement for the Wintersday event:

The nights may be long and dark, but Tyrians of all races keep joy alive during the ancient holiday of Wintersday. While each race celebrates Wintersday in their own unique way, children all over Tyria share a common love of one thing: toys.

This year the city of Lion’s Arch will host the asuran Toymaker Tixx as their special guest of honor. Before Tixx arrives in Lion’s Arch in his massive airship toy workshop, he’ll visit every major city in Tyria to deliver Wintersday toys and holiday cheer.

In the gallery below you can find some breathtaking screenshots. I truly hope that ArenaNet learned a few lessons from the previous events, which means the players will be able to enjoy the event without lags, disconnections and unnecessary in-game bugs.
