Guild Wars 2 Maps are Live

Guild Wars 2 provides you with loads of opportunities to explore the land of Tyria. More often than not you will come across a waypoint, skill point or other type of discover-able achievement/content while roaming the lands of Tyria. If you are a collectionist like us you might find our Guild Wars 2 maps handy. Not only are these maps filled with data hand picked by our editors (so, no spam points from random strangers), but we also provide screenshots to better demonstrate where each POI, vista or Waypoint is and how to get to it if you get stuck. So, if you are looking for that underwater cave to get that last skill point, we’re the place that will help you find it. There are many well crafted GW2 interactive maps on the net, but screenshots and careful Editorial approach to each event and point on the map can be found only on GW2 Life. So far we have managed to enter the following lands (we still have hundreds of POIs to upload):

GW2 Life In-game Item Giveaway

You might have noticed that we are in Germany, covering MMORPG news from the biggest European gaming convention. As announced before ArenaNet is not doing anything “spectacular” in terms of presentation because the game is about to launch and everyone is hard at work to make that happen. Luckily, we came across several very friendly community managers and some old Aion friends and managed to get something really exciting for you guys. As you might be aware, Arena Net is giving away in-game codes that will unlock a special item (It’s a white T-shirt with red dragon on it.) for your character once the game launches. You can obtain these if you visit Guild Wars 2 booth at Gamescom.

For those of you that are not at the show in Cologne, we managed to obtain some codes and get the item anyways. We did not get many, only four, but it’s better than nothing. The only thing you need to do is use the widget bellow and enter the giveaway by following us on twitter (you get 3 entry points for this) or leaving a comment here on the site (you get one entry point for this). The winners will be chosen at random on August 21st and notified by email so make sure you leave proper contact information when you sign into the widget. Duplicate entries will not be accepted and will be removed. Thank you all for participating and good luck.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Due to an unprecedented demand we are forced to end the giveaway prematurely. We initially wanted to run it for 4 days, but we had 4000 people apply within the first 8 hours. Letting this continue with only 4 keys to be given away would just be pointless, so we have decided to cut short the giveaway. We thank you all for participating and we will be contacting the lucky winners with their codes within the next 24 hours. We talked to NCSoft and we were told that a larger batch of keys will be available for us to giveaway so all of you have at least a decent chance of getting one. If we continued this giveaway, the ratio would be one key to 1000 applicants and probably 1 to 10000 within a few days. You might as well play the lottery with those odds …

Ranger Pets Guide

Ranger Pet takes an active role in combat by providing damage or interactive skills for the player. During the character creation, each race offers three different pets, from which a ranger can choose one starting pet. Pet’s type determines which environments the pet is able to fight in: aquatic (underwater), terrestrial (land) and amphibious (can fight both on land and underwater). Rangers have two terrestrial and two aquatic pet slots. Amphibious pets can occupy either terrestrial or aquatic slots.

Each pet belongs to a species and each species belongs to a family which determines common skills and its general attributes. Each family has 3 common skills which are automatically used by the pet. Its species determines a pet’s unique skill.
