The Lost Shores Event

The Lost Shores Event phase 1 begins with [Group event] Deal with invading karka and collect samples for research Assistant Bardus, on Friday, November 16, 21:00 CET (20:00 GMT). The event will start as a conflict with the Karka race. During this event all players will be scaled up to level 80. Once the event starts the players will be able to fight karka and find a method to defeat them. Karka are protected by armored plates that make them impenetrable to normal attacks.
 
During the next few days special events will trigger three phases of the Lost Shores event which will culminate in a one-time only event chain that will run multiple hours with a finale of defeating the Ancient Karka. Players will receive a special reward at the event completion.
 


Young karkas can be easily defeated but Veteran Young Karkas do high damage and can also knock you down. There is also a Veteran Karka Egg Layer with dozens of karka hatchlings around.
 

Once you complete the [Group event] Deal with invading karka and collect samples for research Assistant Bardus talk to Ellen in the Grand Piazza. After that follow commanders to the Mystic Forge. Talk to NPC Miyani and ask her about karka creature than buy Donation Packaging.

In-game GW2 shirt code giveaway

UPDATE: We have just been notified by NCSoft that these codes are for EUROPEAN accounts only. This means that only EU players will be able to apply them to their accounts. Since this completely changes the ruleset and makes quite a bit of applications void, we decided to stop this giveaway. We will be distributing the keys among the people that already applied and are eligible (from the EU) and we will start another giveaway shortly that will have rewards for NA players as well. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused, but we had no idea there were any region restrictions imposed on these codes.

 
Back in August we organized our very first Guild Wars 2 giveaway giving away 4 codes that unlock an in-game item obtainable only through fansite giveaways and during special events. We promised, back then, that we will be doing another giveaway with more codes available. It is time to make that promise come true! We are giving away 30 codes that will unlock a special in-game shirt with the Guild Wars 2 logo (as seen on the picture above). GW2 Fractals of the Mists Dungeon Details and Video

Fractals of the Mists is a high-end dungeon. It’s built of an array of mini-dungeons named fractals. Each fractal is built as a distinct, separate experience with themes, mechanics, and art specific to that fractal. Fractals of the Mists is a five men dungeon accessible to all players (your party can be any level), but it will be very challenging to low levels players.
 
You access the Fractals of the Mists in Lion’s Arch by entering a new asura gate (you can find location on the screenshots below).
 


Once you enter the portal you’ll be taken to the Mistlock Observatory, and faced with a set of three randomly chosen destinations. Every other round before you return to the Observatory you’ll be faced with a bonus “boss fractal”. To make Fractals of the Mist even more challenging, every time you re-visit the hub, the dungeon scales up in difficulty and becomes more rewarding.
 

With the Fractals of the Mists, ArenaNet will introduce the first Ascended items and Infusions.

GW2 Ascended Gear

With the November update – The Lost Shores, ArenaNet will introduce the first Ascended items. This new rarity type falls between Exotic and Legendary items with slightly higher stats than Exotics. There are two ways to acquire Ascended items:
 

  • Through the new dungeon Fractals of the Mists (Ascended Rings)
  • Through special Mystic Forge recipes (Ascended items worn on the back )

 

The stats and functionality normally added to gear through upgrade components are actually built into Ascended items. Instead of upgrade slots, Ascended gear has Infusion slots, and rarer versions of the items also come with additional Agony Resistance built into them.

 

Infusion Upgrade Component

Infusions are a new type of Upgrade Component that will be introduced with Ascended Gear. They can be slotted into special Infusion slots on the gear and can be acquired in the Mystic Forge. Their purpose is to build resistance against Agony damage – a new monster condition. This condition ticks percentages of player health away and can’t be cleansed by normal means. The players will face Agony damage in the Fractals of the Mists dungeon for the first time.
 

There are multiple types of Infusions and Infusion slots. In November, we’ll introduce Offensive, Defensive, and Omni Infusions of Fine rarity from new Mystic Forge recipes. Infusion upgrade types must be paired with their like slot, with the exception of the rare and versatile Omni Infusions which can be slotted into any type of Infusion slot.

Refer a Friend GW2 Free Trial

ArenaNet decided to start a free game trial program from November 15-18 for all your friends who want to experience Guild Wars 2 and Lost Shores.

 

We want you to experience Guild Wars 2 and Lost Shores with your friends, so on Monday November 12, we will turn on Refer a Friend Free Trial. You will be able to invite up to 3 Friends to play Guild Wars 2 with you for free from November 15-18.
 
To do so, you need a Guild Wars 2 account in good standing that was created before 23:59 PST (7:59 GMT) on November 6.
 
We will give you more details once the program goes live, but start thinking about who you want to invite!
